IA2’s main goal as an institution is to promote the aggregation of collaborative efforts and interaction among prestigious researchers who jointly decide to implement a series of multidisciplinary research projects on a more ambitious and global scope, thereby achieving a mark of distinction on a national and international level. IA2’s character as a mixed research center is a fundamental aspect that it must assume as its mark of identity and quality: it is a hub that can create links and synergies among a series of institutions and researchers. Thus IA2 was created with the goal of serving as a benchmark of excellence in the agrofood area, congregating a number of researchers who are specialized in different links in the food chain, encouraging interaction and coordination among disciplines as a factor that multiplies each specialty’s capacities by sharing experience, structures, services, resources and techniques. IA2’s strategy is twofold: 1) the deployment of research activities of the highest standard, and 2) the transfer of technology and research results to the agrofood sector, striving to resolve concrete problems that emerge in different areas of society.
IA2’s mission is to encourage high-quality scientific research and technology transfer with the greatest positive impact on the agrofood sector, helping it to become more sustainable, competitive and innovative, and enabling it to provide society with foodstuffs of better quality and greater safety.
