At the Animal and Plant Health Agency, we safeguard animal and plant health for the benefit of people, the environment and the economy. Epidemiological research and surveillance projects are integral to our success. In this unique role, you will support the delivery of diverse projects, with an impact spanning the fields of national and international veterinary public health.

We will look to you to develop expertise in the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases in livestock, with a particular focus on Salmonella. Your fascinating remit will range from producing reports on surveillance trends, through to conducting farm and abattoir visits to collect samples, and designing and delivering epidemiological research surveys.

You will work with a wide variety of people within the UK and EU. Colleagues, external customers, delivery partners and project teams will rely on your insightful presentations and contribution to epidemiological projects. You will also be instrumental in engaging farmers in project activities.

To join us, you will need qualifications or experience of epidemiology and veterinary public health. Ideally, your expertise will span field-based sampling, the British livestock industries, and the use of MS Access queries and statistical packages, such as Stata. You will certainly bring a proven ability to apply your scientific and technical knowledge and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach will be key to your success.
