Equipment

This molecular biology laboratory provides scientific and technical support for the identification, characterization, conservation and improvement of plant genetic resources in horticultural and fruit species. Also, supported by molecular techniques, it develops an important activity in the diagnosis of diseases, detection of varietal fraud, determination of floral compatibility, self-fertility and cross-fertility in fruit trees and evaluation of plant material under environmental stress.
Clearly differentiated into a section for horticultural species and another for fruit species, it has the necessary equipment to perform the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), which allows the in vitro amplification of DNA fragments and their subsequent analysis and interpretation, with high analytical sensitivity and specificity. It is also capable of performing electrophoresis and cloning.
