Full-time Faculty Positions in Animal Science - Delaware Valley University

The Department of Animal Science at Delaware Valley University invites qualified applicants for three full-time, 9-month renewable positions beginning in August 2016:

- Assistant Professor, Tenure-track
- Assistant Professor, Non-tenure track
- Instructor or Assistant Professor, Non-tenure track (rank commiserate with education/experience)

The ideal candidate(s) will have a broad background in Animal Science, the capacity to teach a variety of courses and the ability to engage industry in support of the teaching programs. Applicants with the ability to teach a selection of courses within the following areas will be strongly considered: production animal husbandry and management techniques across multiple livestock species, especially beef and swine; livestock evaluation and judging, animal genetics, animal anatomy & physiology. Candidate(s) should also possess excellent writing and oral communication skills, evidence of continued scholarship, the willingness to work as part of a team, and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring.

The successful candidate(s) will teach various courses from an available pool, according to experience and interest, including but not limited to: Introduction to Animal Science, Livestock Industries & Careers, Animal Genetics, Animal Anatomy & Physiology, Animal Diseases, Animal Science Seminar, Animal Welfare, Livestock Evaluation, Animal Husbandry Techniques, Swine Science, Beef Science, and Poultry Science.

Animal Science faculty members assist in advising of undergraduate students, attend faculty and department meetings, and participate in curriculum development. Additional responsibilities include remaining current and relevant in one’s field of expertise; posting and maintaining regular office hours; serving on faculty committees as assigned or elected; participating in scholarship activities and professional development; assisting in development of departmental objectives and learning outcomes, and fulfilling other departmental needs as needed/able.

All positions require a minimum Master’s degree in Animal Science or related field as well as pertinent animal industry or production experience. Rank of Assistant Professor requires a PhD/veterinary degree in Animal Science or related field, with relevant animal industry and/or teaching experience. Applicants must successfully pass all applicable background clearances.
