Post doctoral fellowship in Veterinary Medicine - FAPESP, SAO PAULO RESEARCH FOUNDATION
The Departament of Animal Science of Escola de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz, ESALQ, University of São Paulo campus Piracicaba, SP, Brazil, opens a Post doctoral vacancy in Animal Science, supported by FAPESP.
Candidates must be undergraduate in Veterinary Medicine, have finished the Ph.D less than seven (7) years ago, be exclusively dedicated to the research, have experience in reproduction and nutrition of cattle, and knowledge of the English language (writing, reading and conversation).
The selected candidate will work in the development of the Thematic Project "Technological innovations to increase productivity in beef cattle: Nutritional and genetic interrelationships about puberty, reproduction and production - Protocols for TAI - Gene expression in reproductive processes" (Process FAPESP 2014/14136-4).
The selected candidate will be responsible for the project "Early weaning effect and Average Daily Gain (ADG) in the onset of puberty in Nellore and crossbreed (Nellore x Angus) heifers". The proposed project comprises two experiments to assess the interaction between two ADG (medium and high) in two periods of heifer’s life (Phase 1 - from 3 to 7 months; Phase 2 - 7 months to puberty) at the age of puberty of Nellore and crossbreed heifers, as well as physiological and reproductive processes that occur before puberty in each experimental group. It is desirable to have experience in:
- Evaluation of the reproductive tract of heifers with ultrasound;
- Hormonal analysis;
- Use of tractor and agricultural implements;
- Cattle handling in feedlot.
The selected candidate will also participate of others projects, supporting students in the development of theses and dissertations, contributing to the development of studies and writing reports and papers.
The fellowship lasts for two years, and those interested should apply until 08/15/2016.
