The University of Zaragoza, through the Agri-Food Institute of Aragon (IA2), collaborates with the prestigious Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour (UPPA), the Centre for Agri-Food Research and Technology of Aragon (CITA), a leader in its field, the innovative cosmetics company KARICIA and the French spas of Argelès-Gazost, Bagnères-de-Bigorre and Barèges, to create a Collaborative Research and Transfer Network, which will allow the revaluation of endogenous natural resources in order to develop more innovative and sustainable dermocosmetics that will boost the economic and social development of the POCTEFA territory.

The results to be obtained after the development of this project will be as follows:

  • A catalogue of natural resources of the POCTEFA territory relevant to the development of products and services related to health tourism will be generated.
  • Prototypes of quality dermocosmetics will be created, differentiating the territory, benefiting the microbiota of the skin and promoting the competitiveness of local companies.
  • We will evaluate the socio-economic impact of new products and services in sectors such as health or sustainable tourism.

The CARUSO EFA085/01 project is 65% co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra Programme (POCTEFA 2021-2027). The objective of POCTEFA is to strengthen the economic and social integration of the Spain-France-Andorra border area.
