Assisted reproduction operating room

Complementing the activity of the small ruminant reproduction laboratory, this experimental operating room provides technical support for research in reproductive biotechnology applied to production and genetic improvement in small ruminants.

It is equipped with instrumentation and equipment for in vivo oocyte retrieval by LOPU (laparoscopic oocyte aspiration) and oocyte retrieval at slaughter, ovarian follicular dissection, embryo transfer, insemination and in vitro fertilization. By means of ultrasound, gestation diagnosis, ovarian ultrasound and other exploratory ultrasound scans related to reproduction in small ruminants are carried out. It also has the capacity to perform reproductive surgeries.

The Centro de Investigación y Tecnología Agroalimentaria is registered and authorized as a team for the collection and production of sheep and goat embryos (zootechnical code: ES02ET02OV/C).
