Equipment

Multidisciplinary laboratory in which teaching and research are combined.
Among other activities, this laboratory provides scientific and technical support for research in plant protection, mainly aimed at the biological control of pests in urban and agricultural environments, control by means of management tools of arvenous flora or weeds, as well as the study of their biology (especially new invasive species). In relation to trufficulture, this laboratory also develops an important research activity in root microbiology associated with mycorrhization.
For this purpose, the following equipment is available:

  • Vertical microscope: Olympus CX 41. Phase contrast, fluorescence. It allows acrobatic flat objectives, without aberration. (x 60).
  • Lupa Olympus SZX9 with integrated camera optika 4083B9 and PC connection.
  • Laminar flow cabinet Telstar® BV-100.
  • Three non-refrigerated culture ovens.
  • Refrigerators and freezer cabinet.
  • Large capacity autoclave: Autester mod 437 G Pselecta.
  • Other standard laboratory equipment.

Specific equipment:

  • Non-destructive chlorophyll measurement device to determine the degree of nutrition in the leaf: Chlorophyll Meter SPAD-502. Konica Minolta.
  • Device to measure chlorophyll fluorescence: PEA Fluorimeter.  Hansatech Instruments.
  • Device for measuring moisture and specific weight of grain:  GAC® 2100 Grain Analysis Computer. Dickey John®.
  • Ceptometer for calculating leaf area index (LAI), for canopy density and biomass assessment: AccuPAR PAR/LAI Ceptometer. Meter Group.
  • Other standard equipment.

The activity of this laboratory is complemented by the availability of greenhouses for teaching and experimental purposes.
