Plant physiology laboratory

This plant physiology laboratory has a kerosene embedding and resin fixation service for plant material, cutting and staining of samples for histological studies. Plant water stress studies are also carried out.
The following equipment is available:

• Automatic station for kerosene embedding and historesin: EG-1140. Leica
• Rotation microtome for kerosene. Biocut
• Rotational ultramicrotome for kerosene and resin: Ultracut-E. Rechert-Jung
• Vibratome, for fresh cut. OTS-4500. Warner Instruments.
• Precision balance: CP225D. Sartorius

In addition, unique microscopy equipment is available: stereoscopic microscopes, fluorescence and normal light microscopes and image analyzer.

• Microscopy:

• Fluorescence and normal light with integrated camera: DM2500. Leica Microsystems
• Fluorescence and normal light: BH2-RFCA. Olimpus
• Fluorescence and normal light: Wetzlar Ortholux II. Leitz

• WildM8 stereomicroscope. Leica
• Three photographic and video cameras (one Leica and two IDS).
• Quantimet 570 C and Quantimet Q550 image analyzer. Leica

• Formaldehyde dispensing station
• Forced extraction cabinet for work with formaldehyde
• Gas extraction cabinet
• Two ovens. Lab-Linc and Memmbert
• Wasserlab (type II) water purification equipment
• -20ºC and -80ºC freezers

For the evaluation of plant material for environmental stress, the following equipment is available:

• Pressure chamber to measure water potential.
