Digital image and color analysis laboratory

Location

University of Zaragoza. Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Central Building

Equipment

This laboratory provides analytical and digital support for image and color studies, with diverse applications, such as color determination and the study and monitoring of the evolution of color in liquids and solids. These studies are being used mainly in the evaluation of the evolution of fruit maturity.

For this purpose, it is capable of performing optical spectroscopy techniques (reflectance and transmittance) and digital image diagnosis. The CIELAB chromatic space model is used, and multivariate linear calibration techniques (PLS) and principal component analysis (PCA) are applied to perform simplified color measurement models and calibration models.

It has the following equipment:

  • Remote spectroradiometer CAS140. Instrument System. For measuring spectral radiation in the visible/infrared range (UV-VIS-NIR).
  • Spectrophotometer: Avantis Avalight DHS power supply (UV/Vis) and AvaSpec 1024 spectrum analyzer.

Image processing area:

  • Laser tower with viewing camera for laser backscattering and maturity study. A3121 Basler Vision Technologies camera.
  • HP Scanjet G4010 PHOTOGRAPHIC Scanner.
  • Software for image control, analysis and digital processing: MATROX®.

Other specific equipment:

  • Probes for reflection and continuous flow measurement
  • Power supplies, lamps
