Research Technician in Plant Science - University of Bristol

Applications are invited for a part time (50%) Research Technician to work on a BBSRC-funded project entitled ‘Integrating UV-B signalling in to plant photomorphogenesis networks’. The post is open-ended with funding currently available for 20 months.

Candidates will have a qualification to BTEC, HNC or Higher Diploma level in Science. Experience in working with Arabidopsis is essential.

The post holder will work with Dr Kerry Franklin (PI) and Professor Gareth Jenkins (University of Glasgow).

The project aims to understand how plants integrate UV-B signals with other photoreceptor pathways to regulate growth and development in sunlight. Experimental approaches will include transgenic plant construction, protein immunoprecipitation, western blotting, RNA sequencing and plant physiology.

The post holder will assist a PDRA with plant growth, seed stock maintenance, growth cabinet monitoring and a variety of plant molecular biology procedures. Full training will be provided. Excellent team working, organisational and communication skills are essential.
