A food and nutrition security expert, who likes to contribute to capacity building of other professionals across the world in support of improved global food and nutrition security. You will join Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation (CDI). CDI facilitates innovation, brokers knowledge, and helps to develop the capacities of individuals and organisations working on food and nutrition security and sustainability in a global context and in countries with developing and transitional economies. Our focus is on facilitating innovation and changes in the areas of food and nutrition security, sustainable markets, adaptive agriculture, ecosystems governance, and disaster-conflict and reconstruction. Our group of 80 staff connects the knowledge and expertise of Wageningen University & Research with processes of society-wide learning and innovation. We work to inspire new forms of collaboration between citizens, governments, businesses, NGOs and the scientific community. The chosen candidate will contribute to the development of CDI’s national and international profile and portfolio in the area of food and nutrition security. You will support the implementation of capacity development programmes, including international mid-career professional courses. You will also provide consultancy services, policy advice, and develop partnerships with governments, (international) NGOs, knowledge centres and the private sector. We are looking for a development practitioner with a specific interest in individual and organisational capacity development, who has a proven in-depth understanding of the broad concept of food and nutrition security. The food and nutrition security expert should be able to link theory and practice and facilitate multi-stakeholder learning in change processes in this area. Assignments take place in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and, to a lesser extent, Latin America. Excellent spoken and written English is essential. Fluency in other languages, in particular French or Spanish, is an asset. Ideally, candidates will have an MSc or PhD degree in human nutrition or in another disciplinary field related to food and nutrition security, with a strong background in the social sciences and in interdisciplinary approaches.

Functie-eisen

- MSc or PhD degree in Human Nutrition or another field of sciences relevant for food and nutrition security, with an emphasis on the social sciences;
- 10 to 15 years of working experience, preferably international, in food and nutrition security;
- Proven ability to implement capacity development processes and to facilitate learning and development of others;
- Proven ability to engage in policy dialogues and to provide policy advice;
- Proven experience in the design and implementation of food and nutrition security projects;
- Knowledge of and/experience in qualitative as well as quantitative approaches for monitoring and evaluation (including impact assessment) of food and nutrition security programmes and projects;
- A good international network and a proven ability to acquire a project portfolio;
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills with a strong background in participatory processes for innovation and change;
- The ability to work and communicate across boundaries/cultures and also between the business-, government-, NGO- and academic worlds;
- Willingness to travel extensively (short missions).

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

An initial one year contract of 36 hours per week with a performance based possibility for extension. Scale 11 CAO Stichting Wageningen Research: minimum salary € 3062,- and maximum salary €4757,- gross per month (based on fulltime employment, 36 hours per week), depending on education and experience. In addition we offer a holiday allowance of 8% of the annual salary and an end of year benefit of 3%.
